After receiving phone calls from people living in cars, asking for our help 
…. we felt helpless but desperate to do something. We made some calls to people in our community who might be interested in starting a group to make a difference to the affordable housing crisis in OUR area of Rockhampton …. Between August of last year and today MUCH has happened ! we founded “The Shelter Collective” , workshopped ideas 
… settled on four projects ; went to the community to ask who else would like to help make things happen ; and landed on our first project to tackle – the restoration of old cottages at Alexandra Gardens (they had been dormant for over a decade)
