Rockhampton North Rotary Club donates $40,000 to the Shelter Collectives ARC-20 Project.
A huge thank you to Rockhampton North Rotary Club.
The Shelter Collective was lucky enough to receive a donation of $40,000 towards the ARC-20 Project. This money will be used to build a common area pavilion for the 10 ladies who now live in the 10 renovated cottages. It will be a meeting place for them as well as a place for their families and friends to visit.
Dave Grenfell was invited to the RNR Wednesday night and said. Talking to the Rotarians last night warmed my heart, however the message I received from most of the members is they are not getting any younger and time is eroding their ranks. They really need younger volunteers signing up for rotary and are all concerned at the prospect of these amazing local community groups fading away.
Besides the $40,000 donated to the Shelter collective The Rockhampton North Rotary club has recently also donated $30,000 to the Fitzroy Hospice, $5,000 to the Royal Flying Doctors and $5,000 to the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service.
They have raised over $1.7 million for our community since starting The R’ton Swap meet 27 years ago with all that funding going to support our community. I found myself asking what our community would do without such organizations as Rotary in our community if they simply just fade away.
If you want to be part of making a difference and changing lives in our community, please consider joining one of our Rotary Clubs. They need some younger people to take up the batten and continue the great work they do every day.
